I’ve been busy preparing for Louisiana Legal Secretaries, Inc. (“LLSI”) Spring Meeting to be held in Baton Rouge May 1 and 2, 2009. Educational seminars are scheduled for Friday, May 1, along with our LEGACY OF LOVE donations. For the Battered Women’s Shelter here in Baton Rouge, we are collecting new and gently used stuffed animals and recycling old cell phones and accessories. So, go clean out those desk drawers and rooms previously occupied by a child. Donate those stuffed animals so they can be loved anew by a child who truly needs something to love! Donate an old cell phone that may actually save a life! Rid your life of an old cell phone charger that you no longer remember which phone it fits! I will pick up anything you would like to donate, or you can bring to the April meeting and I will take it off your hands.
May 2, 2009 in addition to the Board Meeting and luncheon, we will be conducting a walking tour of downtown Baton Rouge. We will visit the new Welcome Center on River Road and the Louisiana State Museum at the corner of Spanish Town Road and North Fourth Street. At 5 p.m. May 2nd the real Louisiana fun begins at Dalton’s on Lafayette Street with the HAVE A HEART Memorial Fundraiser in honor of Marvin J. Pollet with a silent auction, jambalaya and/or barbecue dinners, raffle drawings and THE infamous BENCH BAR BOOGIE BAND. It is sure to be a fun time in Baton Rouge and I wouldn’t miss it. Hope you don’t!
